Disastrous Healthcare Bill Released

By Caomhin

Here’s the link the massive government takeover of the healthcare industry (in PDF format).  For anyone who actually thinks this will somehow work, think again.  This is going to be an uppercut to the jaw of the economy and result in rationed, lower quality healthcare.  It’s massive, well over 1,000 pages.  I ran a few word searches, here’s some keys:

1. The words “lawsuit” and “law suit” do not appear in the text of the bill.

2. The word “tort” does not appear in the text of the bill.

3. The word “arbitration” does not appear in the text of the bill.

Over 1,000 pages an no mention of any of these words?  Sure sounds like they went out of their  way to protect trial lawyers, gee, I wonder why the Dems would do that?  Nevermind that frivolous lawsuits and malpractice insurance are key contributors to rising prices as well as the lack of competition between states.

They’re still considering your taxing your health care benefits if you dare not enroll in the government plan and they want to hit people with up to 5.4% “surcharge” if you happen to make more money than they deem fit, which for now sits at $350,000.  So when they take more money out of people’s pockets, especially the number one job creating market in the U.S. (small businesses) and the primary people who invest in the stock market and put their money into banks through savings deposits, CDs, etc, how’s the economy going to respond to that?

Think Medicare is going to be around when if this goes through?  How do you think that’s going to play out with our nation’s seniors who can’t sit around for weeks waiting to get an appointment.  Neither can anyone suffering from a serious affliction, but that doesn’t matter to the Democrats, they just need those votes to show you how much they “care” about you.  This bill is not about “caring” in the least, however.  This bill is yet another way to reduce you to a statistic; and anyway to reduce a human being to a statistic and remove the human face from the individual is pretty much how Liberals like to view all issues.

Obama’s Looking at the US Economic Picture, Right?

By Caomhin

Obama keeps insisting that the economy is on the right track.  Think about that for a moment.  This is the man who swore that the unemployment rate would never reach 10% and that the jobs would come calling pretty damn quickly if his pork laden spending bill called the “stimulus” or “recovery” or whatever else they want to label it passed.  It didn’t produce jobs, but it sure made the deficit skyrocket.  He’s out there now saying that it was always a two year plan despite the fact that we were told that everything would implode if we didn’t pass the bill ASAP.  Here we are, are things much cheerier for you, your neighbors, friends, etc?  Of course they’re not.  Absent the spending bill, I have full faith that the recession would be ending much sooner and in much more dramatic fashion than when recovery actually comes, which it will.  It always comes, if we allow the market to work.  The problem, of course, is that such overreaching and substantial market interference by the Administration is going to slow down and distort recovery, all while he keeps insisting things are fine, but are they really?  Do you feel that they are better than you did in January when he took office?

Let’s take a gander at some of the news off the wires today.  First up, let’s take a snapshot at our nation’s current deficit:

The U.S. recorded a federal budget deficit of $94.3 billion in June, pushing the cumulative deficit so far this year to a record $1.08 trillion, the Treasury Department reported Monday.

At this time last year, the cumulative federal budget deficit was just $285.8 billion.

The Obama administration expects a deficit of $1.84 trillion for the full fiscal year, which ends in September. However, that number is likely to be revised higher later this month, since the economy has been much weaker than when the original estimate was made.

You can distinctly recall the media going absolutely bonkers over the deficit for years under President Bush, as many of us did as well.  It is always solid policy to minimize and eliminate debt, but some levels of deficits can in certain circumstances be beneficial, as Alexander Hamilton has taught us.  We all wanted the deficit to be reduced.  Now, a year later, the $285.8 billion deficit has nearly quadrupled, and yet, how often do you hear the media attacking Obama over this?  There should be a TREMENDOUS outcry over this runaway and unsustainable deficit. You’ll also notice he EXPECTS a $1.84 trillion deficit which in fact, will be much, much higher, as even he was forced to admit his stimulus was a catastrophic failure in job creation and that unemployment will grow for MONTHS.

Let’s glance at some more news out today.  Remember when I (and countless others) were warning about a coming spike in inflation that was going to come as a result of a loose monetary policy coupled with flooding the market with dollars?  Of course you do, and once upon a time the media did too, when they actually cared about doing their jobs as opposed to being partisan hacks.  Have a look at the Producer Price Index:

U.S. producer prices rose 1.8% in June, beating economists’ expectations, the Labor Department reported Tuesday. It was the biggest increase since November 2007. Excluding volatile food and energy prices, the index was up by 0.5% in June. Economists surveyed by MarketWatch were expecting producer prices to climb by 1.2% in June.

What that equates to is higher prices that will undoubtedly be passed along to consumers.  When the PPI beats expectations, it’s not a good thing, it’s a bad thing, and the higher the spread, the worse the news is for businesses and consumers.  It appears the effects of the “stimulus” are being felt in other ways that will impact us, but not in a positive way.  With the average work week shrinking, equating to lower paychecks, virtually no one receiving increases in base pay, and an increase in the cost of goods, what effect do you think that will have on the economy as whole, especially for people on the lower end of the spectrum?

Two other spending proposals, which at this point equate to nothing more than throwing a ton of money on a credit card, were also introduced today by the Administration.  $27 billion in funding for community colleges and a plan to allow homeowners who are forced into foreclosure to “rent” their houses as they revert ownership to the bank.  Ideas and sentiments can be noble in theory and have the best intentions but result in complete disaster.  Thus far the Administration has not displayed honest and true intentions, but rather political games designed to score votes and savagely attack their opponents as opposed to being a statesman.  He has done virtually no analysis of the situations around him and into admitting they have “misread” things from the jump.  Even as they recognize their assessments are wrong, they have not slowed down to further analyze the situation to come up with a better fix.  Rather, like a spoiled child, they want what they want, when they want it, no matter what consequences be damned.  I suggest you read this piece in the Wall Street Journal for even more perspective on what we’re up against.

There are thing we can afford to do and things we can not afford to do, and while we, the average citizen, agonize when we’re forced to put a $50 grocery bill on our credit card, Obama and his administration roll out plans on a monthly basis that can be measured in fractions of trillions of dollars without second thought.  We’ve become so desensitized to him in six months that I’m betting when you read about the $27 billion in funding for community colleges you didn’t even blink and didn’t click on the link at all.  We have a problem, and whether Obama, the media, or even we ourselves care to admit it, it’s going to have to be dealt with and quickly.

Remembering Tony Snow

By Caomhin

I remember watching Tony Snow on Fox prior to his accepting the post of White House Secretary under President George W. Bush.  I had found him to be quite insightful and very charismatic on the News Network and greatly enjoyed watching him.   He always seemed to be a very down to earth and caring individual and I found myself to be a big fan of his.  In his role in the White House he was incredible, and no disrespect to Dana Perino, but he was the best Press Secretary I can ever recall.  He cancelled the role, bringing his trade mark charisma and professional to a position that is very thankless and which is extremely difficult to perform.

Upon hearing news that he was ill, I wrote and email to him at the White House.  Now, I know the odds that it ever reached him are slim to none, and I do not recall the full text of the email, but it contained my thoughts on his professionalism, my appreciation, and my wishes for a full and quick recovery, letting him know that he was in my prayers.  Months later, I received an email, most likely a form letter, but given how hard of a working and how much he cared about people, who knows.  I can only imagine the volume of emails with well whishes that he had received but I’d like to share the response I received with you, as we fondly recall the life of Tony Snow:

THE WHITE HOUSE

Washington

Thank you for the wonderful email, and for including me in your

thoughts.

I have gotten hundreds of cards and emails from all over the country,

and I’m amazed and delighted by each and every one. The entire path of

my life over the last few years has taught me a very valuable lesson:

that blessings come in unexpected packages. Although I normally wouldn’t

consider cancer a blessing, it has brought forth acts of kindness from

friends and strangers-and helped me understand the real power of

kindness and concern. It is as if I had been hoisted on the shoulders of

others, who have taken up my burden, and raised me up, so I can look at

life from a new and wonderful perspective.

That’s one of the great things about being an American: people in this

country just want to do the right thing for others. And having been the

recipient of your kindness, I can assure you that I’m doing everything

in my power to learn from and emulate your example. Little gestures-a

call, an email, even a smile-can have enormous healing power, not just

on the person in need, but the person offering the encouragement. Isn’t

it great how we always feel better when we do the right things?

So thank you for strengthening my faith in the things that matter-and

from the bottom of my heart, thanks for taking the time to write to me.

What a great gift!

God bless,

TONY SNOW

Tony and his family remain in our prayers as we celebrate his life.  May God bless him and his family.

Steny Hoyer Should Be Forced From Office

By Caomhin

Yet another reason we should be able to demand and have tendered the resignation of most of the members of Congress.  Sure that probably sounds harsh, but when they admit they don’t actually do their job, then they should be fired, no questions asked.  Imagine if your boss asked you to promise to start doing your job (actually you’d have already been fired) and you laughed at them.

Keep in mind that Steny Hoyer is the House Majority LeaderNothing fancy to the question that was proposed to him, it was whether he supported the following pledge:

“I, (Name inserted here), pledge to my constituents and to the American people that I will not vote to enact any health-care reform package that: 1) I have not read, personally, in its entirety; and, 2) Has not been available, in its entirety, to the American people on the Internet for at least 72 hours, so that they can read it too.”

His response?

If every member pledged to not vote for it if they hadn’t read it in its entirety, I think we would have very few votes,” Hoyer told CNSNews.com at his regular weekly news conference.

In fact, Hoyer found the idea of the pledge humorous, laughing as he responded to the question. “I’m laughing because a) I don’t know how long this bill is going to be, but it’s going to be a very long bill,” he said.

These are employees of the American people and this fool has the audacity to laugh and blow off a pledge that members of Congress actually read the bills they are passing and allow the American people to look at them in order to form an educated opinion on them?  It’s incredulous.  It’s beyond contempt really.  It’s outrageous and completely unacceptable that someone who works for the American people can’t even read the bills they are voting on (a.k.a. doing their jobs) and this clown thinks it’s a joke?  He needs to go and he needs to go right now.  Feel free to call him at 202-225-4131 and let him know what you think.

Hippies Desecrate Mount Rushmore

By Caomhin

I hope they punish these pathetic individuals to the fullest extent of the law.  There are certain lines that should never be crossed, and this is certainly one of them.  No matter how strongly they believed in their little crusade they had no right to deface and desecrate a monument in order to promote their cause.  Whether I support a cause is irrelevant in a situation in this because there is a certain amount of respect and decorum that must remain in place in this nation in the course of debate no matter how strongly you feel about an issue.

These criminals went to Mount Rushmore with malicious intent to desecrate a monument.  I can say without reservation that these idiots wouldn’t have had the stones to try to pull this stunt in D.C. or any other populated area with a stronger security detail.  Imagine something like this unfolding at the Lincoln Monument, what do you imagine that outcome would have been? This is a direct slap in the face to the American people, the great people of South Dakota, the National Park Service, and our former Presidents.  I’m sure the people of the Lakota Sioux and other Native American tribes really appreciated this as well.

The actions of these morons did nothing more than put themselves and others in harms way while causing damage to a national treasure, and for what?  To shamelessly feed their egos and seek their 15 minutes of fame?  Here’s hoping they throw the book at them.

Climate Lies Articulated by the Media

By Caomhin

Actually have to tip the hat the AP for their editors’ not picking up on the blatant lie about Carbon Reduction being about the environment.  As we’ve long since suspected, this is simply about an effort to impose socialism on a global level.  I am not a conspiracy theorist by any means but I do believe that rise of Leftist leaders has led directly toward a larger, much more sophisticated and sovereignty eroding socialist agenda.  Leftist crusades often are presented as being “honorable” or for the cause of “saving humanity” and usually have scapegoats, namely, anyone who has accumulated wealth.  While I myself am not wealthy, I don’t begrudge anyone who has worked their entire lives and I wish them well.  I believe in capitalism, liberty, and the right of self determination.  Greed and envy are not my guiding principles.  I am more concerned with improving myself and working hard to achieve my goals.  All I ask is to be free to pursue these goals, win, lose, or draw.

So why do I see that the AP finally let their guard down and let the truth about the move toward global socialism under the guise of “Climate Change?”  Check out this article; specifically:

As it stands now, under the carbon-capping Kyoto Protocol, rich countries shoulder most of the burden for cutting the emissions that spur global warming, while developing countries — including fast-growing economies China and India — are not required to curb greenhouse pollution.

Rich countries, notably the United States, have said this gives developing countries an unfair economic advantage; China, India and other developing countries argue that developed countries have historically spewed more climate-warming gases, and developing countries need time to catch up.

“Developing countries need time to catch up.”  Think about that for a moment.  If the reduction of “climate-warming gasses” is absolute for mankind and the Earth’s survival, then to what do developing countries need to catch up?  Certainly not in emitting pollution, for if developing countries are spewing out more pollution even as developed nations cut back, then what exactly is being achieved?  These gases are still being released and nothing is being accomplished as the environment is still being irreparably harmed beyond repair according to Al Gore and his acolytes.

It is safe to assume that under the environmentalists’ view that the release of any and all harmful gases much be drastically drawn down on a global level or stopped all together.  They have made that argument time and time again.  However, why would they push for other nations, developing nations, to be allowed to produce more of these gases at all?  It is because it has nothing to do with the environment at all.  Well, to be fair, it is for some, but rather the overwhelming members of the Climate Change crew are using this mechanism to rapidly push forward their socialist agenda.

“Catch up,” in this case refers to one thing and one thing only, and that is to catch up economically.  They can no longer hide the fact that Cap and Trade and other restrictions on individuals and businesses will do economic harm to the host countries.  By “capping” what industrialized nations can emit those who go over this arbitrary line will be forced to pay taxes to nations that do not emit above this level.  The aim is to take money in the form of tax revenues from certain individuals and giving it to others.  It is a redistribution of wealth; it is socialism.

What will also be a necessary response to this particular form of Cap and Trade is not just a global tax that will be used as a form of welfare payments to developing nations (i.e. sending American tax dollars to other nations as “punishment” for having been successful in the first place) but we will also see a geographical movement of “wealthy” individuals and business to nations that are more friendly.  In other words, policies that will come as a result of the Global Warming hysteria knowingly are a means by which transfer payments and relocation of industries to developing nations will not only be encouraged but rewarded.  It is a sort of a fall back to serfdom for the rest of us.  Should you not have the money to pay your allowances to the government to lead the lifestyle you worked hard to attain in the first place than you shall not be able to do so.  Meanwhile, this “crisis” is so bad that Leftist politicians like Obama, Pelosi, Reid, and others take private jets all across the world while scolding you for driving your car to and from work.  The fact is, the media finally let a truth slip here.  Leftists know that placing restrictions and forcefully taking the private property of individuals in order to re-assign their belonging to others will slow down and set back the development of those in industrialized nations, while the flux of newly seized tax revenues and business incentives to invest in the developed nations will allow them to grow more quickly through artificial and government imposed means.  I believe that history has shown us the success of Central Planning in nations like the USSR with regards to a track record of human rights, freedom, liberty, and economic success.  How anyone could seek to willfully duplicate this record is beyond me.  Yet, the Left knows this and there is no way to truly describe how disingenuous or dangerously ignorant they are on this issue.

Which Senators To Call on Cap and Trade

Let’s get this list up early and ready to go early.  Nothing much to add here other than I think everyone on this list has some incentives to come to their senses and kill this monstrosity in order to protect their citizens and their home states from the impending fiscal disaster this will bring to Main Street.  As always, be courteous with with your calls but be strong in your conviction and expressing your views.  Let’s Go!

Founding Fathers and Happy Independence!

By Riss

A worthwhile Youtube video. Never forget Our Founding Fathers wisdom.

Please do not ever take our Country and our Freedom for granted.  We are walking a thin line between right and wrong and I hope with all my heart that the people of our great country realize the hardcore consequences of our Constitution be violated on a daily basis.  We the People have lost sight of what America stands for and We the People need to stand up for our country and take back America.
