Unemployment and Obamanomics go Hand in Hand

By Caomhin

Personally I’m not nearly as optimistic as the author of this article on Market Watch, I don’t think we’re going below 10% unemployment and I’ve heard rumblings that we may actually see increases and not decreases in unemployment:

According to the median forecast of economists surveyed by Blue Chip Economics, about 1.1 million nonfarm payroll jobs will be created next year. The consensus expects the unemployment rate to be 9.9% a year from now.

Three-percent growth “won’t generate enough job growth to do much more than keep unemployment from rising further,” wrote Tim Duy, an economics professor at the University of Oregon.

Surely you will reports about the smallest of small decreases in unemployment being celebrated by the media, but Obama’s economic policies have been the definition of Epic Fail.  He spent foolishly and outrageously during his first year in office and there are no indications that he is going to stop during his second year.  He is hell bent on expanding our national debt to the point of being unsustainable.  While he celebrates the smallest of accomplishments, surely someone in his administration knows that his outlandish spending has achieved little and that had the government not kneecapped the free market we would be seeing more rapid growth in the economy and the job market.  We had two choices in regards to recovery.  Fast and painful or slow and painful.  Obama chose the slow and painful method.

What makes this all the more disheartening is due to this unfathomable spending, when inflation sets in the Fed has already sent some signals to indicate it has keep rates at near zero, which of course, will lead to rapidly rising prices, further hurting American families.  The interest bill on our national debt has put a tremendous amount of pressure on this nation and there is no easy or quick fix for this problem.  Obama does not have the resolve to address this issue, he doesn’t even have the resolve to say no to a single pork barrel project.  I have often said that the only “reset button” Obama has successfully pushed is the one that resets our natural rate of unemployment from 3.5% to about 7 or 8% as the result of Obama’s liberal, anti-free market policies.  Liberals can try and spin numbers all they want but until the American people have well paying jobs to provide for their families and build for the future there is no such thing as recovery.  We’ve also seen the media refuse to label this what it is, a depression, which occurs after two consecutive quarters of negative growth in GDP.  Obama has exacerbated the issues and only the resilience of the American people can and will fix our issues and that will be in spite of, and not because of, Obama’s horrendous policies.

Obamacation Update

By Caomhin

Maybe every day that passes makes me a bit for cynical, or maybe the media is just that horrendous that this article is clouding my interpretation of their text.  The AP reports on Obama’s vacation:

The president’s holiday vacation was delayed by a Senate vote on health care legislation, then interrupted—and, by all accounts, derailed—by the attempted Christmas Day bombing of a Northwest Airlines flight as it prepared to land in Detroit.

Is it just me or does the author of this article actually seemed bothered by the fact that Obama wasn’t able to what he does best, absolutely nothing, due to the Senate voting on his socialized health care plan and by the attempted terrorist attacks on our nation?  Seriously, who in their right mind cares if Obama’s vacation was “derailed” by the attempted murder of American citizens by an Islamic extremist?  What people should care about is the fact that Obama STAYED on vacation after the attempted attack and that he did not fire Janet “The System Worked” Napolitano.  Pathetic.

Josh First takes on Tim Holden in PA-17

By Caomhin

Reading this short article from Pennlive got me a bit fired up.  I’m definitely liking Josh First:

“Tim Holden has proven himself to be a liberal enabler of Nancy Pelosi’s anti-American policies. He voted for Pelosi to be Speaker of the U.S. House, and his ensuing 96 percent voting record with Pelosi proves that Holden is a liberal Trojan Horse, right here in the heartland of America. Right in one of the most conservative, all-American regions of our great nation we have one of the most Liberal elected officials,” said First.
“Holden is no moderate, he is as liberal as any liberal holding office today in America. Heck, compare his record with Congressman Chaka Fattah, who has a 98 percent voting record with Pelosi, and Fattah is from Philadelphia. They’re nearly the same,” said First.

Mr. First is deadly accurate here, and while I don’t know too much about him yet, the first impression is awesome.  Let me share a little story about Holden with you.  During the run up the House of Representative’s vote on Obama Care, I called every representative in Pennsylvania.  All of the Democrats D.C. offices, to their credit, were at least cordial to me on this particular issue, even if they were blowing me off.  Holden’s office, though, was not.

The bill hadn’t quite been out for more than 24 hours or so (and before amendments were added) when I called and the woman who answered the phone was not exactly happy to take my call.  After raising my concerns she essentially lied about what was and what was not in the bill (such as money for abortions, tax increases, the public option, the exchange, etc) she said “you’re not from our district so you don’t know that Rep. Holden reads every bill that he votes on.”  I explicitly asked if he would read the health care bill and the response was that “he already had.”  So either Rep. Holden is a talented speed reader or he didn’t take the time to understand it, or most likely, she was lying to me.  When I tried to ask follow up questions, she was quite flustered and the conversation did not need to be extended.  After this incident I looked a bit more closely at Holden’s record and noticed that his voting record was very far to the left on many, many issues, even as he claims he is a Blue Dog.  So yes, I’m going to pay close attention to this race.

Another Obama Nominee, Another Lie

By Caomhin

Seriously, has a single nominee not been exposed as a liar?  I thought all those tax issues were pretty horrible, and believe me that fact that we have a tax cheat, Tim Geithner, as Secretary of the Treasury is mind numbingly painful, especially considering that there were many, many, of Obama’s nominees who are looking forward to raising your taxes while ducking theirs.  Obama himself has told so many lies that you are pretty much forced to fact check every word out of his mouth.  Of course, the worst lie, and also illustration of incompetence, recently came from Secretary of Homeland Security Janet “The System Worked” Napolitano, who may actually be insane considering she muttered those words while discussing the terrorist Abdulmutallab nearly murdering many of fellow citizens on Christmas Day.

The most recent liar who appears headed to work under teh Obama is Erroll Southers, Obama’s nominee to head up the TSA.  Actually, Southers lie is not nearly as bad as what he did and then subsequently lie about:

Southers first described the episode in his October affidavit, telling the Senate panel that two decades ago he asked a San Diego Police Department employee to access confidential criminal records about the boyfriend. Southers said he had been censured by superiors at the FBI. He described the incident as isolated and expressed regrets about it.

The committee approved his nomination Nov. 19. One day later, Southers wrote to Lieberman and Collins saying his first account was incorrect. After reviewing documents, he wrote, he recalled that he had twice conducted the database searches himself, downloaded confidential law enforcement records about his wife’s boyfriend and passed information on to the police department employee, the letter said.

It is a violation of the federal Privacy Act to access such information without proper cause. The law says that “any person who knowingly and willfully requests or obtains any record concerning an individual from an agency under false pretenses shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and fined not more than $5,000.”

A former FBI agent “accidentally” forgot that it was he who illegally accessed a federal database to mine information on an individual…twice.  Nothing like confirming an individual with a track record of illegally accessing information on others should be settling for any one.  If Obama had an ounce of respect for the law he would have pulled this guy’s nomination.  Everyone makes mistakes, but just how many criminals does Obama want working in his administration, and if he’s comfortable with criminals running his operations, then neither he nor his liberal allies should be upset when that is pointed out.

There is no excuse for putting criminals in liars in charge of public affairs.  I can guarantee you that if an employee of a private sector business accessed private information on another individual they would be fired at minimum and almost assuredly convicted.  I can also guarantee you that they would never be given a promotion.  While I’m issuing you guarantees, I can also guarantee that if I don’t pay my taxes, I sure as hell won’t be the next Secretary of Treasury and that I’d be fined and probably locked up.  Yet, when it comes to Obama, everyone just seems to forget that we have laws that EVERY citizen of this nation is required to follow.

Liberals Whine About Rasmussen

By Caomhin

Nothing is safe from Liberal rage.  Liberals have found a new enemy, the people who respond to polls conducted by Rasmussen.  Liberals believe there are flaws in Rasmussen’s methodology, most likely because, unlike partisan main stream media polls Rasmussen does not skew their results by oversampling Democratic voters.  Rasmussen is a non-partisan polling company that has been very accurate in nearly all of their polls, and their presidential poll came damn close to the actual result of the 2008 election results.  Yet, they’re bias and can’t be trusted according to liberals simply because Rasmussen doesn’t donate money and actively work for the Democrats…even though they don’t do either for Republicans either.

So what’s the main gripe?  Liberals are really, really mad at the founder and president of Rasmussen Reports, Scott Rasmussen because the Rasmussen Reports are showing that people have stopped drinking the Obama Kool Aid and are pretty pissed off that the government has decided to re-define the words deficit and spending.  Here’s some highlights from the Politico piece:

While Scott Rasmussen, the firm’s president, contends that he has no ax to grind — his bio notes that he has been “an independent pollster for more than a decade” and “has never been a campaign pollster or consultant for candidates seeking office” — his opponents on the left insist he is the hand that feeds conservative talkers a daily trove of negative numbers that provides grist for attacks on Obama and the Democratic Party.

“He’s been underpolling Obama all year,” said Boehlert. “People start thinking, ‘There’s something going on here.’”

His opponents are mad that…Rasmussen Reports have identified problems that voters have with the liberal dominated government.  So what’s the Democrats response?  Well it’s sure not, “hey, look, people are really mad at some of the stuff we’re doing, maybe we should listen to the voters.”  We all know that won’t fly.  Hell, if that were the case, they wouldn’t have pushed so hard for Obama Care.  One noted right wing polling outfit found that Americans opposed it by a margin of 27 percent, while another right wing lunatic organization showed that Americans opposed Obama Care by a margin of 7 percent.  Those organizations?  Quinnipiac and the Washington Post, widely loved by liberals everywhere.

The “daily trove of negative numbers,” are the result of Liberals actions, not of Rasmussen’s methodology.  In fact, even in polls known to skew heavily toward Democratic voters show that the Liberals are in trouble this year for spending money like a drunken college student at a bar with their first credit card.  As far as “underpolling Obama,” it doesn’t even dawn on liberals that their allies are over polling him.  Their egos are so gigantic that they can’t even comprehend the consequence of their actions in ignoring the electorate.  Maybe they should ask Ben Nelson, who was in a strongly competitive race in early polls for 2012 in Nebraska until he voted for Obama Care.  Now…he’s down by 30 points in recent polls.

Liberals won’t take strong principled stands against dictators or terrorists, but print something that shows Obama’s ineffectiveness, and watch out!  I can’t decide if it’s more amusing or pathetic, but it is what it is.  Either way, for every day that goes by, I take them less and less serious.

Iran has played Obama for a Fool

By Caomhin

This is one of those things that you never wanted to see happen.  As much as I disagree with Obama on many, many issues, we needed to be strong on Iran, we needed to stop their pursuit of nuclear weapons, for both our security and the security of the Middle East and Israel’s security as well.  Unfortunately, as much as I had hoped that Obama would at least take this threat seriously enough to do something, anything, outside of issuing ever lengthening “deadlines”, he has done nothing.  Worse, Iran is mocking him, America, and the world, and Obama does not have the resolve to even appear to be effective.

This was to be expected, I suppose, and now that Russia has laughed at Obama’s “reset button” and began a push for a new types of nuclear weapons, Iran followed the Russian government’s lead and has laughed off Obama…again.  In fact, they mockingly issued Obama and other world leaders and ultimatum of their own.  Once again we can see the effectiveness not only of Obama’s “smart power” but also of the UN’s ineffectiveness.  The response from the Obama administration thus far has been the foreign policy equivalent of Einstein’s definition of insanity:

Iran dismissed an end-of-2009 deadline imposed by the Obama administration and its international partners to accept a U.N.-drafted deal to swap most of its enriched uranium for nuclear fuel. The deal would reduce Iran’s stockpile of low-enriched uranium, limiting — at least for the moment — its capability to make nuclear weapons.

The U.S. and its allies have demanded Iran accept the terms of the U.N.-brokered plan without changes.

Instead, Tehran came up with a counterproposal: to have the West either sell nuclear fuel to Iran, or swap its nuclear fuel for Iran’s enriched uranium in smaller batches instead of at once as the U.N. plan requires.

This is unacceptable to the West because it would leave Tehran with enough enriched material to make nuclear arms.

Every time that Obama gives Iran a new “deadline,” Iran simply laughs him off and continues their pursuit of nuclear weapons.   Obama half heartedly denounced the violence against the Iranian people by their barbaric leaders after the rigged election in June.  Meanwhile, Iranian opposition leader, Mir Hossain Mousavi continues to lead the opposition movement in Iran amid even more threats from the regime.  Even as the violence is on the uptick once more, Obama has remained conspicuously silent.  Perhaps this is one of the election promises he actually intended to keep, to reach out to dictators, which, judging by his governing thus far, means to give them free reign to do whatever they like.  My point here is not to cast Mousavi as an angel or anything of the sort, but it was very clear that the election was a fraud, that the brutal violence against the Iranian people was and is very real, as is Ahmadinejad and the Iranian hardliner’s pursuit of nuclear weapons, and in none of these situations has Obama expressed leadership or resolve.  It is a giant failure, in fact.

Actions speak louder than words, and it is quite clear to me that Obama will never get involved in anything that involves something he perceives to be a sizeable political risk to his chances of re-election, and if that means not taking the tough measures that need to be taken in international affairs, he will not do it.  I believe this to also be the reason why he did not provide the troops requested for the Afghanistan effort by Gen. McChrystal, why he foolishly poked our friends in the Czech Republic and Poland in the eye on missile defense, has continually criticized Israel, and snubbed allies such as Great Britain and Norway.  He would rather upset our allies than take tough stances against hostile and despotic governments.  Though our media and liberal friends certainly will not acknowledge this, other world leaders certainly have taken notice and are capitalizing on Obama’s weakness.  You have only to follow international affairs closely to recognize this pattern.

Ecuadoran President to Run for Senate as a Democrat

By Caomhin

At least that’s what I gather from this:

Ecuadorean President Rafael Correa says right-wing extremists in the United States are conspiring against his government by attempting to destabilize the poor Andean nation.

Then again, maybe he’s posturing for a job at MSNBC.  Either way, uber-leftists pretty much just parrot the same garbage over and over again.  This one is actually pretty funny.  Here we have another aspiring dictator very upset that anyone is standing in their way of absolute power.  I’m sure his buddy Hugo Chavez is upset too, making this story that much more amusing.

In all seriousness though, we know how much South American leftists absolutely adore our progressive regressive president and his liberal cohorts in Congress.  It’s like they share the same exact talking points.  Just for fun, let’s illustrate this:

Ecuadorean President Rafael Correa Barack Obama says right-wing extremists in the United States are conspiring against his government by attempting to destabilize the poor Andean nation health care bill.

See how that works.  It’s amazing that all these folks are cut from the same cloth.  As evidenced by his support of Manuel Zelaya and his creepy level of respect and silence with regards to Hugo Chavez as well as his idiotic views on Colombia, you really get the sense that Obama would just love to spend some quality time these people.  Feeling better yet?

Looking at 2010

By Caomhin

Happy New Year everyone!  I hope you all had a great celebration last night and kicked off the new year in style.  My best goes out to all of you, your family, and friends.

We have many reasons to be excited about 2010 from a political standpoint.  Here in Pennsylvania, we are looking forward to electing a new governor, and I am fully backing Tom Corbett in this election.  While Jim Gerlach is a fine individual, Tom has been a wonderful attorney general and has served the people of our Commonwealth in an exemplary fashion.  He has earned my trust and I look forward to seeing him elected governor.

Pat Toomey will be the next senator from Pennsylvania, and it is with great anticipation that I await the opportunity to vote for Pat.  He is exactly what who we need representing us and the people of Pennsylvania will be proud to have him in Washington on our behalf.  I am confident that the rest of this nation will benefit from Pat’s convictions and will find him to be the kind of leader we desperately need in this nation.

I’m looking forward to helping friends in New Hampshire, New York, Connecticut, New Jersey, California, Nevada, Arkansas, and Oklahoma, among others with their efforts to help put this nation on the right track.  I look forward to fully unveiling our new Reagan’s Regiment project.  There is much work to be done but it with great anticipation that I look forward to making this all happen.

On a persona note, as some of you know, I am now engaged to Marissa and I couldn’t be happier.  We bought our first house in November and we’ve been working like crazy on getting settling, and yes, all those stories people tell you about the work never being done are true, but is so worth it.   We are also expecting our first child in late May.  As of now the doctor’s are 90% sure it will be a baby girl.  We’ve truly been blessed in our lives and I thank God everyday for all that He has given us.  All of this helps me to resolve to be a better person, to work  harder, and to keep my focus in life.

God bless you all and our great nation.
